Which job do you want done?
People searching for "WhatsApp voice to text" usually want one of two things:
- Read a voice note someone sent you. Zefmi does not do this. WhatsApp has its own voice message transcripts on some devices: see WhatsApp's help page on voice message transcripts.
- Reply by voice, but send text. This is what Zefmi does, on your computer.
For other apps, see dictation in any app.
How do I reply by voice in WhatsApp Desktop or Web?
- Open WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web on Windows.
- Click in the message box.
- Hold Alt+Space (changeable), say your reply, and let go.
- Check the text and press Enter.
Zefmi types at the cursor by pasting, the way Ctrl+V does, so it works in any Windows app that accepts a paste. We have not yet published a per-app test list.
Why send text instead of a voice note?
Text is quicker to read, easy to search later, and works when the other person cannot play audio. You still get to speak instead of type.
Can I dictate in Cantonese or Mandarin?
On the US$5 plan you can speak Cantonese or Mandarin and Zefmi types Chinese characters. We have not tested which script you get; see Cantonese speech to text.
Does it work on my phone?
Not yet. Zefmi runs on Windows. Mac, iPhone and Android are coming.
