Voice typing for ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor prompts: dictate the prompt, keep your hands for the code
Zefmi types into your terminal, editor or AI chat box like any other app. Explain a bug out loud, let go of the key, and the text is there. It types text only: it does not control the AI or run commands.

What happens to your words
Prompts often hold details about your code. Here is what Zefmi does with them.
Security and privacy in full- Our relay does not store your audioYour voice goes through our relay to AssemblyAI (Deepgram is the backup). The relay keeps no audio or text and logs status codes only.
- Your history stays on your deviceYour dictation history is kept on your computer. Our servers keep word counts, not what you said.
- We do not train AI on your wordsThe clean-up step goes through OpenRouter with data collection set to deny, so it only uses providers that do not log or train on prompts.
- It types, nothing moreZefmi does not read your screen, run commands or send anything to your AI tool. You still press Enter.
Already have voice input in your tool?
Claude Code has its own /voice dictation in the CLI, which needs a Claude.ai account, and ChatGPT has a voice mode. If yours is enough, use it. Zefmi is one shortcut that works the same in every app on Windows. Checked 31 Oct 2026 against Claude Code's docs.
Questions
How dictation software works, and what Zefmi does and does not do: dictation software explained.
Does Zefmi work in the terminal?
Zefmi types at your cursor, so it works in a terminal window like any other app on Windows.
Can it run commands or control the AI?
No. It types text at your cursor. It does not press Enter, run commands or talk to your AI tool.
Will it mangle code symbols?
Zefmi is built for speaking sentences, not code syntax. It is best for prompts, comments, commit messages and chat.
Do you keep what I say?
Not on our servers. Your history stays on your computer, and we never train AI on your words.
Does it work offline?
No. Zefmi needs an internet connection, because the speech recognition runs online.
